Staff Analog Design Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Advanced analog design, Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, signal chain architecture, design methodology, Python, cross-team technical leadership, statistical modeling, noise analysis
About the role
You will operate as a staff analog designer with influence spanning multiple design teams at a semiconductor company. Staff analog designers work on the problems that cross team boundaries: the signal chain partitioning nobody owns cleanly, the noise coupling between blocks, the methodology gaps that slow every team, and the critical reviews that need experienced eyes, bringing order and rigor to ambiguous, high-stakes technical territory. Your deep circuit expertise and broad system perspective let you align teams, unblock programs, and raise analog quality everywhere you engage.
What you will achieve
- Drive analog architecture alignment across multiple programs or teams, ensuring consistent methodologies for specification, simulation, modeling, and tapeout readiness.
- Own signal chain partitioning and error budgeting across team boundaries, allocating noise, linearity, and power budgets to blocks with quantitative justification.
- Resolve cross-team analog issues such as substrate noise coupling, supply integrity, reference distribution, and grounding strategy with technically sound decisions.
- Build reusable analog IP, design infrastructure, or verification methodologies that measurably improve productivity and quality across teams, reducing design cycle times and respin rates organization-wide.
- Lead critical design reviews for high-risk analog blocks regardless of team ownership, catching issues early through experienced, systematic scrutiny.
- Mentor designers across teams and champion methodology improvements, spreading best practices and developing talent beyond your own organization.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 8 to 12 years of experience in analog IC design with multiple successful tapeouts across different block types.
- Proven ability to influence and align multiple teams through deep technical credibility rather than formal authority.
- Broad expertise spanning several analog domains such as amplifiers, converters, references, PLLs, or power management.
- Strong system-level perspective: you understand how block-level decisions affect signal chain performance, yield, and cost.
- Experience building reusable IP or design methodology adopted beyond a single team.
- Excellent debug skills for system-level analog issues including noise coupling and supply integrity.
- Clear communication skills for cross-functional technical leadership and honest risk assessment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with advanced packaging or 3D integration effects on analog performance.
- Familiarity with mixed-signal verification methodologies and modeling.
- Background in high-volume production ramp and yield improvement for analog content.
