About the role

You will lead a small team of analog designers at a semiconductor company while remaining hands-on with the most challenging circuit design yourself. The team owns a set of analog blocks or a signal chain, and you are accountable both for the technical quality of their designs and for their professional growth. This is a working leadership role for a designer who wants to multiply their impact: you will still design circuits, debug silicon, and make the hardest technical calls, while ensuring the team delivers cohesively and each designer develops their craft.

What you will achieve

Lead a team of 3 to 6 analog designers in taking blocks from specification through schematic design, simulation, layout, tapeout, and silicon validation.
Deliver the team's designs on the program schedule with first-silicon quality, avoiding respins through rigorous methodology and thorough reviews.
Own the most challenging circuit design problems in the team's scope personally, demonstrating the design excellence the team aspires to.
Run effective design reviews that catch errors early, distribute knowledge, resolve technical disagreements fairly, and build a culture of rigorous, respectful critique.
Develop each team member deliberately through mentoring, stretch assignments, and candid feedback, growing designers toward independent ownership.
Coordinate with program management and neighboring teams on specifications, interfaces, schedule, and risk, communicating status honestly and escalating early when needed.

What you will bring

Must-haves

7 or more years of experience in analog IC design with multiple successful tapeouts.
Demonstrated technical leadership of designers through formal leadership or recognized technical authority.
Strong circuit design skills across core analog blocks with a record of meeting demanding specifications.
Solid understanding of layout, device physics, and the physical realities of analog implementation.
Silicon debug experience with systematic bench measurement and root-cause analysis skills.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and track design work across a small team.
The balance to stay deeply technical while leading effectively, earning respect through contribution.

Nice-to-haves

Experience hiring and growing analog design talent.
Background spanning analog design and layout or mixed-signal verification.
Familiarity with program planning and risk management for hardware schedules.
Knowledge of statistical design and design-for-yield methodologies.
