Software Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Python or Go, REST API design, PostgreSQL, Docker, Git, unit and integration testing, CI/CD pipelines, cloud fundamentals (AWS or GCP), observability basics, code review discipline
About the role
You will build production software at a product company where code quality, reliability, and shipping velocity all matter at once. Software engineers here own features end to end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and the on-call responsibility that keeps them honest about operability. You will work in a modern stack with strong engineering practices, surrounded by engineers who review carefully and mentor generously. The bar is real but so is the support: engineers who write clean code, communicate clearly, and take ownership grow fast here. Your work will reach real users quickly, and you will learn what production software demands by operating what you build.
What you will achieve
- Ship well-tested features to production every sprint, owning design, implementation, code review, deployment, and post-release monitoring end to end
- Reduce production incidents in your services through better testing, thoughtful alerting, and honest postmortems that drive genuine fixes
- Improve system performance measurably by profiling hot paths, optimizing queries, and removing bottlenecks backed by benchmark data
- Raise code quality across the team through careful reviews that catch bugs early and teach better patterns to the engineers who wrote them
- Build internal tooling or automation that saves the team measurable hours each week, compounding into real velocity gains over time
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years building production software with real users, real traffic, and real operational responsibility for uptime
- Strong programming fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and clean code in at least one modern language such as Python, Go, or Java
- Experience designing and building REST APIs with attention to versioning, error handling, and backward compatibility for clients
- Familiarity with relational databases: schema design, indexing strategy, and query optimization for production performance
- Working knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and deploying services to cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP
- Testing discipline: unit tests, integration tests, and the judgment to know what coverage actually matters versus what is theater
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated experience
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration running in production environments
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures using Kafka, SQS, or similar messaging systems
- Knowledge of observability tooling: structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alert design
- Contributions to open-source projects or a visible technical portfolio of meaningful work
