Sensor Analog Design Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Sensor interface design, low-noise amplifiers, chopper stabilization, Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, MEMS interfaces, precision analog, ultra-low-power design, transducer modeling
About the role
You will design sensor interface circuits at a semiconductor company, building the ultra-sensitive front ends that convert tiny physical signals into robust digital data used by control systems and decision algorithms. Sensor analog designers work with the smallest signals in electronics: microvolt sensor outputs buried in noise, slowly drifting offsets, and harsh environmental conditions. You will design chopper-stabilized amplifiers, precision ADCs, excitation drivers, and complete sensor signal chains for applications from industrial sensing to biomedical monitoring.
What you will achieve
- Design sensor analog front ends including low-noise amplifiers, programmable gain stages, and anti-alias filters optimized for specific transducer characteristics and signal levels.
- Implement offset and 1/f noise cancellation using chopper stabilization, auto-zero, or correlated double sampling, achieving microvolt-level precision in real operating conditions.
- Design excitation and biasing circuits for resistive, capacitive, or MEMS sensors with the stability and noise performance the measurement accuracy demands.
- Optimize sensor interfaces for ultra-low power where applications demand years of battery life, balancing noise performance against current consumption quantitatively.
- Design the complete sensor signal chain including amplification, filtering, conversion, and digital interfacing, budgeting error contributions across every stage to guarantee end-to-end accuracy.
- Validate sensor interfaces with real transducers under realistic operating conditions, characterizing noise, offset drift, linearity, and temperature stability against the application's accuracy requirements.
What you will bring

- Knowledge of sensor types including resistive bridges, capacitive MEMS, thermocouples, and photodiodes, and their interface requirements.
- Experience with ultra-low-power design techniques for battery-powered sensing applications.
- Proficiency with Cadence tools including noise analysis and Monte Carlo for precision design.
- Bench measurement expertise for low-level signals including shielding, guarding, and noise measurement techniques in electrically noisy environments.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with biomedical sensor interfaces and their safety and regulatory considerations.
- Familiarity with MEMS co-design or sensor fusion architectures.
- Knowledge of industrial functional safety requirements for sensor systems.
