The job description
Tech stack. technology development, cross-module integration, advanced SPC, DOE leadership, mentoring, technical program ownership, risk assessment
About the role
A semiconductor manufacturer needs a senior engineer to lead technically complex projects that span process modules, the problems too tangled for any single specialist to untangle alone. You will take on the hardest integration and yield challenges, set technical direction for your area, and mentor junior engineers who are still learning how a fab really works. Your judgment decides which risks are worth taking and which shortcuts will cost the company later, and teams will look to you when the data is ambiguous and the schedule is tight.
What you will achieve
- Lead technology transfer or new-product introduction projects that reach volume production within committed timelines, managing technical risk without hiding it from stakeholders.
- Drive solutions to chronic yield or reliability issues that recover at least 2 points of yield or eliminate a field failure mode, with fixes verified across multiple lots.
- Own technical roadmaps for your process area, identifying capability gaps 12 months before they block products so investments and hiring happen in time.
- Reduce experiment cycle time across your team by standardizing DOE design and data analysis practices, so every engineer runs experiments that actually answer the question asked.
- Mentor 2 to 3 junior engineers per year, with mentees independently owning module qualifications within 12 months of starting under your guidance.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- BS or MS in engineering or physics (MS or PhD preferred) with 5 to 8 years in semiconductor fabrication or technology development.
- Track record of leading multi-module projects from concept through production release, with measurable yield, cost, or schedule outcomes.
- Deep expertise in at least one process area plus working knowledge of adjacent modules, enough to adjudicate cross-module trade-offs.
- Demonstrated mentoring of junior engineers with measurable growth outcomes, not just informal advice.
- Strong influence skills to drive decisions across process, equipment, and integration teams without direct authority.
- Technical credibility shown through patents, conference presentations, or published work in your domain.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with advanced nodes or 3D device architectures and their integration challenges.
- Program management training or certification applied to technology development projects.
- Vendor management experience for tool or material qualifications, including negotiation of acceptance criteria.
