Senior Electrical Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro, SPICE simulation, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, power integrity analysis, Python test automation, JTAG and boundary scan, thermal chambers, EMI receivers, DFMEA
About the role
You will be a senior individual contributor on the electrical team at a company building high-reliability power conversion and control products for industrial markets. You will own the hardest design problems on the roadmap, set the technical bar for every review, and mentor junior engineers through their first production releases. Your judgment on architecture, design margins, and technical risk will directly determine whether products launch on time, pass certification cleanly, and stay out of the field failure queue for their entire service life.
What you will achieve
- Lead the electrical architecture of a flagship product line, defining power trees, grounding strategy, and interface partitioning that the whole team builds against for multiple product generations.
- Cut board respin cycles across the team by instituting rigorous pre-layout simulation and checklist-driven design reviews, holding first-pass bring-up success above 80 percent.
- Drive root-cause analysis on the toughest field and production failures, applying structured methods to find true causes and implementing verified fixes that eliminate entire classes of repeat occurrences.
- Mentor two to three junior engineers deliberately, raising their design quality through pairing, detailed review feedback, and clear written design guidance they reference independently.
- Deliver cost reductions of 10 percent or more on mature boards through component consolidation, layout simplification, and second-source qualification, all without sacrificing reliability or manufacturability.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 5 to 8 years of electrical design experience with multiple products taken from concept through mass production.
- Deep expertise in at least one domain: power electronics, high-speed digital, precision analog, or mixed-signal design, with working breadth across the others.
- Proven ability to lead design reviews and defend architecture decisions with simulation data and measured results, not opinions.
- Strong bench debug skills on complex multi-board systems, including signal integrity and power integrity troubleshooting.
- Experience mentoring engineers with visible improvement in their design quality and independence.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience taking products through UL, CE, and FCC certification with minimal surprises or schedule impact.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing at contract manufacturers, including panelization, test fixture strategy, and DFM scoring.
- Background in value engineering or structured cost-reduction programs on shipping hardware.
- Knowledge of functional safety concepts where applicable to industrial products.
