QA Software Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Test strategy, automated testing frameworks (Playwright, Cypress), API testing, performance testing, test planning, bug advocacy, CI integration, quality metrics, exploratory testing
About the role
You will own software quality at a company where the QA engineer is the user's advocate inside the engineering team. QA engineers here do far more than execute test cases: they design test strategies, build automation frameworks, and bring a skeptical, user-centered perspective to every feature under development. You will find the bugs that genuinely matter, advocate for fixes with clear evidence and impact analysis, and build the safety nets that let the team ship fast without breaking user trust. Great QA engineers make the whole team better by making quality visible, measurable, and impossible to ignore.
What you will achieve
- Design test strategies for major features covering functional, edge-case, performance, and usability dimensions with clear risk-based priorities
- Build automated test suites spanning UI, API, and integration layers running in CI that catch regressions reliably without flaky-test noise
- Reduce escaped defects measurably through better test planning, earlier involvement in feature design, and systematic exploratory testing sessions
- Drive bug resolution with precise, reproducible reports including clear impact assessment that helps product managers prioritize correctly
- Establish quality metrics the team trusts: defect escape rate, critical path coverage, and release readiness criteria applied consistently
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years in software QA, test engineering, or SDET roles with genuine product release responsibility
- Experience designing test plans from requirements and designs with disciplined risk-based prioritization of testing effort
- Proficiency with test automation: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks, with maintainable architecture
- API testing skills: Postman, REST-assured, or similar tools, including contract testing and negative test cases
- Strong bug advocacy: writing clear, reproducible reports with evidence, business impact, and well-justified severity ratings
- Understanding of CI integration for test suites: parallelization, flake detection and management, and fast feedback loops
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with performance and load testing using k6, JMeter, or Locust with meaningful scenario design
- Familiarity with mobile test automation: Appium, XCUITest, or Espresso frameworks
- Knowledge of accessibility testing tools and methodologies for inclusive products
- Experience with security testing basics: OWASP ZAP or similar integrated into QA workflows
