The job description
Tech stack. Full-custom analog architecture, advanced CMOS and BCD nodes, Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, EM/IR analysis, design methodology, IP reuse strategy
About the role
You will join a fabless semiconductor company as its principal analog IC design engineer, the senior-most individual-contributor authority on analog architecture across the organization. Every product line draws on analog IP, and your judgment sets the technical direction for how that IP is built, reused, and scaled across process nodes. This role matters because the company's roadmap depends on analog blocks that work across products and nodes: you define the architectures and the methodology that make that possible.
What you will achieve
- Set the multi-year analog roadmap, choosing architectures and process strategies that serve three or more product generations
- Deliver flagship IP that becomes the company standard, adopted by every product team and taped out across multiple foundries or nodes
- Drive org-wide design methodology: review standards, signoff criteria, and reuse libraries that cut analog development time across all teams
- Resolve the highest-risk technical escalations, from silicon failures to customer field issues, with root-cause analyses the whole org learns from
- Build the analog bench by mentoring staff and senior engineers into technical leaders, shaping hiring bars and promotion criteria for the discipline
- Represent analog engineering with executives and key customers, translating technical tradeoffs into roadmap and business decisions
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 12+ years of analog IC design with a portfolio of shipped products and at least one generation-defining block or IP family you created
- Recognized depth across the analog spectrum: references, converters, amplifiers, power, and high-speed signaling, with genuine mastery in two or more
- Proven ability to set architecture for complex mixed-signal systems and defend those choices through tapeout and silicon
- Track record of scaling impact beyond personal designs: methodologies, reusable IP, and mentored engineers who now lead their own projects
- Authority in design reviews: you find the flaw others miss and teach the reasoning, not just the fix
- Deep process fluency, including advanced nodes, device limitations, and the cost and risk tradeoffs of node migration
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent depth demonstrated by shipped industry-leading products
Nice-to-haves
- Published papers, patents, or invited talks that mark you as a visible contributor to the analog design community
- Experience guiding IP through foundry qualification and multi-source manufacturing
- Cross-functional leadership across digital, packaging, and systems teams on full product programs
