Power Management Analog Design Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Power management IC design, DC-DC converters, LDOs, Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, control loop theory, power device design, EM and thermal analysis
About the role
You will design power management integrated circuits at a semiconductor company, creating the voltage regulators, converters, and power control systems that energize every electronic product. Power management designers work at the intersection of analog precision and power delivery: their buck, boost, and linear regulators must be efficient, stable under all load transients, quiet enough for sensitive loads, and robust across temperature extremes. Your designs determine battery life, thermal performance, and system reliability. You will also own load-transient and stability validation across the full operating envelope, closing the loop between Spectre simulation, control-loop analysis, and bench measurements on first silicon.
What you will achieve
- Design switching regulators including buck, boost, and buck-boost converters meeting efficiency, transient response, output ripple, and EMI targets across the full operating range.
- Design linear regulators including LDOs and references with excellent PSRR, load regulation, and quiescent current for noise-sensitive and always-on applications.
- Analyze and stabilize control loops rigorously, ensuring phase margin and transient performance under worst-case load steps, input variations, and component tolerances.
- Optimize power stage design including power FET sizing, gate drivers, and current sensing for the efficiency targets that define product competitiveness.
- Validate power management ICs on the bench with comprehensive efficiency, transient, ripple, and protection testing, correlating results against simulation models.
- Design protection features including over-current, over-voltage, thermal shutdown, and soft-start with correct, robust behavior under fault conditions.
What you will bring

- Experience with power device design, gate drivers, and the layout practices critical for switching regulators.
- Proficiency with Cadence tools and power-specific simulation including large-signal transient and efficiency analysis.
- Bench validation expertise for power ICs including efficiency measurement, transient testing, and EMI characterization.
- System perspective on how regulator performance affects the powered loads and overall product behavior.
Nice-to-haves
