Mobile Software Engineer (iOS/Android)
The job description
Tech stack. Swift and SwiftUI or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, mobile architecture patterns, REST/GraphQL integration, push notifications, app store deployment, performance profiling, offline sync
About the role
You will build the mobile apps that most users touch every single day, working in the most constrained and most personal computing environment that exists. Mobile engineers here own the complete app experience: architecture, UI implementation, offline behavior, performance, and the release trains that deliver updates to millions of devices. You will obsess over launch times, battery impact, and crash-free rates because on mobile, users simply delete apps that disappoint them. Platform expertise genuinely matters: you build truly native experiences that feel at home on the OS, not lowest-common-denominator compromises.
What you will achieve
- Ship app releases on a regular cadence with new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements while maintaining high store ratings
- Deliver measurable app quality: crash-free rates above 99.5%, fast cold start times, and smooth scrolling validated with real device testing
- Build offline-capable features with local persistence, robust sync logic, and conflict resolution that work reliably in poor connectivity
- Implement polished native UI following platform design guidelines, with animations and interactions that feel genuinely at home on the operating system
- Reduce release risk through staged rollouts, feature flags, and comprehensive beta testing programs before full public deployment
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years building native mobile apps for iOS with Swift or Android with Kotlin, with apps shipped to the App Store or Play Store
- Strong grasp of mobile architecture patterns: MVVM, clean architecture, or similar, producing testable and maintainable code structure
- Experience with platform UI frameworks: SwiftUI/UIKit or Jetpack Compose/View system, built following platform conventions and guidelines
- Understanding of mobile-specific concerns: lifecycle management, background processing limits, memory pressure handling, and battery impact
- Familiarity with networking on mobile: REST/GraphQL integration, caching strategies, and offline-first design patterns
- Experience with app distribution: provisioning profiles, code signing, beta programs via TestFlight or Play Console, and staged rollouts
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice-to-haves
- Cross-platform experience with the other major OS: an iOS engineer who knows Android or vice versa
- Familiarity with Kotlin Multiplatform or similar shared-business-logic approaches
- Knowledge of mobile CI/CD: automated builds, device farm testing, and release automation pipelines
- Experience with push notification systems, deep linking, and app indexing for discoverability
