Junior eVTOL Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. CAD, engineering fundamentals, MATLAB, Python, technical documentation, design review participation, test support
About the role
You will join an eVTOL aircraft company to start your career building electric aircraft, supported by senior engineers who will mentor you through real program work. This team gives junior engineers genuine ownership of bounded tasks: analysis, test support, and design details that matter to the program. Your growth here is deliberate, with feedback and increasing responsibility as you prove yourself, and the aircraft you help build will carry your fingerprints into flight test. You will be paired with a senior mentor, given real tasks with real stakes, and evaluated on how fast you learn, how clearly you communicate, and how reliably you deliver.
What you will achieve
- Take ownership of well-scoped analysis and design tasks, delivering results your mentor can trust after review within your first months.
- Support test campaigns in the lab and on the aircraft, from instrumentation setup through data processing and reporting.
- Produce clear technical documentation, drawings, and reports that meet the team's standards without heavy rework.
- Complete a structured onboarding curriculum across eVTOL disciplines, building working knowledge of propulsion, structures, and systems.
- Present your work in design reviews within your first year, defending your analysis to senior engineers with poise. You incorporate reviewer feedback visibly, so the engineers critiquing your work see their input making it better.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 0 to 2 years of experience, including strong internships, co-ops, or university project teams that built real hardware.
- Solid engineering fundamentals in one relevant discipline: mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering.
- Proficiency with at least one CAD tool and one analysis or scripting tool such as MATLAB or Python.
- Hands-on inclination: you have built, tested, or broken physical things, not just simulated them.
- Clear written communication and the humility to ask questions early rather than guess late.
- Genuine enthusiasm for electric aviation and the mission of decarbonizing flight. You bring curiosity and energy that lift the engineers around you.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with RC aircraft, drones, or student design-build-fly teams.
- Familiarity with composite fabrication or electronics assembly.
- Coursework or projects in electric propulsion or control systems.
- Exposure to any regulated engineering environment, such as automotive or medical devices.
