Junior Electrical Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Altium Designer or KiCad, LTspice, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, basic Python scripting, soldering stations, Git for hardware revision control, electronic loads
About the role
You will join the electrical engineering team at a company that builds sensing and control hardware for commercial building systems. This is a growth role with real responsibility from the start: you will contribute to shipping designs while senior engineers review your work closely and teach you professional practice. You will build the fundamentals of hardware engineering here, from clean schematics to disciplined bench testing to honest documentation, and your progress will be measured in skills gained, review comments trending down, and contributions shipped to customers.
What you will achieve
- Deliver your first production schematic and layout within your first two quarters, working from a reference design under senior guidance and passing review with measurably decreasing rework each cycle.
- Build reliable bench test setups for board bring-up, learning to use oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads safely and correctly on live hardware without supervision by month six.
- Close assigned debug and test tasks on time, documenting your findings clearly enough that another engineer can reproduce your results from your notes alone.
- Contribute to the team's component library and documentation, adding verified footprints and datasheet notes that future designs reuse with confidence.
- Complete a structured learning plan covering power basics, grounding strategy, and EMC awareness within your first year, demonstrating each skill on real shipping hardware.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 0 to 2 years of experience, including internships, co-ops, or substantial personal and academic hardware projects with real PCBs.
- Solid fundamentals in circuits, signals, and basic power electronics from coursework or hands-on projects.
- Familiarity with at least one ECAD tool and the ability to read schematics confidently, including power and ground symbols.
- Hands-on comfort with bench instruments and soldering, including rework of small surface-mount parts.
- Curiosity, coachability, and clear written communication about technical work, including asking good questions early.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Nice-to-haves
- Personal projects with PCBs you designed, ordered, assembled, and debugged yourself end to end.
- Basic Python for automating measurements or parsing test data into plots.
- Exposure to version control for hardware or software projects.
- Participation in engineering clubs, hackathons, or competitions involving electronics.
