Hardware Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Altium Designer, schematic capture, SPICE simulation, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, I2C, SPI, UART, USB, power integrity fundamentals, DFM principles, ECO management, JTAG boundary scan, Python lab scripting
About the role
You will join an electronics product company shipping connected devices at real volume, where hardware quality decides customer trust, warranty costs, and repeat business. The hardware team owns everything from first schematic to the factory line, and this role sits at the center of that flow with genuine end-to-end responsibility. You will turn product requirements into working boards, then carry them through bring-up, validation, and production release alongside experienced engineers. Along the way you will work shoulder to shoulder with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams, learning how great products get built while contributing real, shippable designs from your first quarter. Engineers who thrive here combine careful analysis with fast, honest lab work and clear written communication.
What you will achieve
- Ship 2 to 3 board designs per year from schematic capture through validated production release, consistently hitting schedule milestones, cost targets, and quality gates without late surprises
- Drive board bring-up from first power-on to functional firmware load in under two weeks using a structured, documented debug plan with clear ownership and daily progress tracking
- Cut board respin rates substantially by catching layout, power delivery, and DFM issues in simulation and peer design review before committing to fabrication
- Own root-cause analysis on field returns and factory failures, closing corrective actions inside one sprint with clear written findings the whole team learns from
- Deliver complete design documentation including block diagrams, test reports, ECOs, and assembly notes that manufacturing can build from without rework or clarification loops
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years designing mixed digital and analog boards, including schematic capture and layout review, with products that successfully reached volume production
- Hands-on lab debug skills with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and bench power supplies, comfortable probing dense live boards under time pressure
- Working knowledge of common interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and basic Ethernet, with protocol-level debugging experience using analyzers
- Familiarity with SPICE or similar simulation tools for power delivery and signal integrity checks before committing designs to layout
- Experience writing ECOs and working directly with contract manufacturers through NPI builds, including build readiness reviews and yield discussions
- Understanding of component selection trade-offs across cost, availability, lifecycle status, and second-source options for long-term supply resilience
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience demonstrated through a portfolio of built, tested, working hardware
Nice-to-haves
- High-speed layout experience with differential pairs, controlled impedance routing, and length matching constraints on dense boards
- Python scripting for lab automation, test data collection, parsing, and visualization of measurement results
- Familiarity with EMI and EMC pre-compliance testing, common failure modes, and practical mitigation techniques applied in design
- Experience with design for test including boundary scan implementation, test point strategy, and ICT fixture requirements
