Hardware Design Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Schematic capture in Altium or Cadence, component selection, power tree design, signal integrity fundamentals, design for manufacturing, prototype bring-up, SPICE simulation, BOM management, ECO workflows
About the role
You will design the electronic circuits at the heart of connected devices, taking products from requirements documents to validated hardware ready for production. Hardware design engineers here own their schematics completely: every net, every part choice, every simulation result, and every compromise made along the way. You will be expected to defend your design decisions in review, stand behind them in the lab, and learn from every measurement that disagrees with your analysis. It is exacting work with real accountability, and it is how you become a genuinely strong engineer. Engineers who do well here take pride in clean schematics, honest simulations, and boards that work because the design was right, not because the lab got lucky.
What you will achieve
- Deliver complete schematic designs from requirements through released fabrication packages with full constraint sets and simulation backing every critical decision
- Achieve first-pass layout success on the majority of your designs through rigorous pre-layout simulation and constraint-driven peer review before fabrication
- Bring up your own boards independently: power sequencing verification, clock integrity checks, interface functional tests, and complete debug documentation
- Reduce BOM cost without sacrificing quality by actively qualifying alternates and designing in second sources from the very first schematic revision
- Build a personal library of reusable, proven circuit blocks covering power, reset, and interface protection that speeds every future design you touch
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years of schematic-level hardware design with products that reached production, not just prototype or demo stage
- Solid circuit fundamentals spanning power supply design (buck, boost, LDO trade-offs), clock distribution, and reset and supervisor circuits
- Experience selecting components with attention to lifecycle, lead time, cost, package size, and availability of qualified alternates
- Ability to run and interpret SPICE simulations for power, filtering, and basic signal integrity before committing designs to layout
- Working knowledge of layout constraints you must communicate clearly: controlled impedance, length matching, and return path continuity
- Methodical bring-up discipline including current-limited first power, staged verification, and written bring-up reports for every board
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience demonstrated through shipped hardware
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with high-speed digital design constraints including DDR routing rules and PCIe channel requirements
- Familiarity with analog sensor front ends: op-amp circuits, ADC interfacing, and noise budgeting from sensor to converter
- Knowledge of protection circuitry for real-world robustness: ESD, surge, overvoltage, and reverse polarity protection
- Experience with PLM and BOM management tools in a production environment with formal change control
