eVTOL Manufacturing Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. design for manufacturing, composite layup processes, assembly planning, rate production, AS9100 quality systems, work instructions, statistical process control
About the role
You will join an eVTOL aircraft company to turn engineering designs into aircraft that can be built repeatedly, safely, and at rate. This team owns the factory floor reality: tooling, layup processes, assembly sequences, and the quality systems that prove every aircraft matches its type design. Your work determines whether the company can scale from prototypes to a production line, and production certification depends on the processes you establish. You will stand between design engineering and the factory floor, translating in both directions, and your processes will determine whether the company can build aircraft at the rate the business plan demands.
What you will achieve
- Drive design-for-manufacturing reviews that cut assembly time and cost without compromising structural or system performance. Your recommendations are backed by process data, cost analysis, and supplier feedback, not just opinion.
- Develop composite layup and assembly processes with documented procedures, achieving first-pass yield targets on production parts.
- Stand up tooling and workstations for a major assembly, from prototype builds through demonstrated rate production readiness.
- Resolve nonconformances with root cause corrective action that prevents recurrence, not just disposition of the immediate part.
- Build the production quality evidence, from first article inspections to process validations, that supports the production certificate application. Statistical process control data demonstrates process stability, proving the line builds conforming aircraft repeatedly.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years in manufacturing engineering for aerospace composites, aircraft assembly, or similarly regulated hardware.
- Experience with composite manufacturing processes such as hand layup, resin infusion, or automated fiber placement.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and translate them into work instructions that operators can follow reliably.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems, nonconformance processes, and corrective action methodology.
- Understanding of tooling design and tolerance analysis for complex assemblies.
- Comfort on the factory floor, solving problems where the hardware is rather than from a desk.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with production rate ramp on a new aircraft or vehicle program.
- Background in lean manufacturing or statistical process control implementation.
- Knowledge of FAA production approval processes such as production certificates.
- Experience with supplier quality management for build-to-print composite parts.
