eVTOL Integration Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. vehicle integration, interface control documents, iron bird testing, ground test operations, configuration management, troubleshooting, first power-on procedures
About the role
You will join an eVTOL aircraft company to own the physical and functional integration of the complete aircraft. While the systems team writes the requirements and the SIL team builds the lab, you are the engineer on the hangar floor when subsystems meet for the first time. Your work turns a collection of qualified parts into an aircraft that powers on, communicates, and behaves as one system, and you will be the first to see the whole vehicle come alive. You will be the person everyone calls when the aircraft misbehaves and no single team owns the symptom, and your troubleshooting instincts will set the pace of every test campaign.
What you will achieve
- Plan and execute vehicle-level integration, sequencing first power-on and functional checkouts so issues surface in a controlled, diagnosable order.
- Resolve integration issues at the aircraft level, tracing faults across propulsion, avionics, software, and harness to root cause without guesswork.
- Build the ground test procedures that prove end-to-end functionality, from pilot input to propulsor response, before the aircraft ever flies.
- Maintain configuration control of the test aircraft, ensuring every change is tracked and every test runs against a known, documented baseline.
- Cut integration debug time by building checkout automation and fault isolation guides the whole team relies on during test campaigns. Tribal knowledge becomes repeatable procedure, so integration speed survives personnel changes and program growth.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years integrating complex electromechanical systems, ideally aircraft or spacecraft, with hands-on vehicle experience.
- Broad technical fluency across electrical, mechanical, and software domains, enough to debug confidently at their boundaries.
- Experience with integration test planning, from bench checkout through vehicle-level ground testing and test readiness reviews.
- Familiarity with configuration management practice for development hardware and software loads on test articles.
- Hands-on comfort in a hangar or lab: wiring, instrumentation, and safe high-voltage work practices.
- Clear written and verbal communication for test procedures, anomaly reports, and daily integration standups.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with iron bird or systems integration rigs for aircraft programs.
- Background in flight test support or experimental aircraft operations.
- Knowledge of aircraft ground handling and hangar safety procedures.
- Familiarity with telemetry and data acquisition systems used in ground testing.
