Electrical Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. Altium Designer, LTspice and PSpice simulation, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, bench power supplies and electronic loads, Python for test automation, LabVIEW, digital multimeters, soldering and rework stations, JTAG debuggers
About the role
You will join the electrical engineering team at an industrial equipment manufacturer that builds rugged power and control hardware for factory automation lines running around the clock. The team owns the full lifecycle from first schematic to production release, and this role sits at the center of that work: translating system requirements into working circuit boards and shepherding them through validation. You will bring boards up on the bench, hunt down the faults that only appear at temperature or under load, and drive designs through EVT, DVT, and PVT so they ship on schedule and survive a decade on a factory floor.
What you will achieve
- Ship production-ready PCB designs from schematic capture through layout review, delivering at least two board revisions per product cycle with first-pass bring-up success on the majority of designs and zero layout-caused respins.
- Drive board bring-up and debug on the bench, isolating faults to the component level with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and current probes, and closing assigned debug tickets within the sprint in which they are filed.
- Reduce field failure rates measurably by designing to derating guidelines, adding protection circuitry such as TVS diodes, fusing, and reverse-polarity guards, and documenting design margins for every power rail in the design file.
- Deliver automated functional test coverage for every new board using Python-driven bench instruments, cutting manual test time per unit roughly in half while improving repeatability across operators and shifts.
- Own the electrical scope of at least one product release end to end, coordinating with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing partners to hit EVT, DVT, and PVT milestones on the committed dates.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years designing analog and digital circuits for hardware products that shipped to customers.
- Fluency in schematic capture and PCB layout review, including stackup selection, grounding strategy, return-path control, and high-current routing.
- Hands-on bench skills: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bench supplies, electronic loads, and fine-pitch soldering down to 0402 components.
- Working knowledge of power fundamentals: buck and boost converters, LDOs, load transients, power sequencing, and thermal derating of semiconductors.
- Ability to write and maintain Python scripts for instrument control, data logging, and automated pass-or-fail test reporting.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience, plus a portfolio of hardware you personally helped ship.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with EMC pre-compliance testing and mitigation through filtering, shielding, and targeted layout fixes.
- Advanced proficiency with Altium Designer, including design variants, rooms, and integrated library management.
- Exposure to agency certification work such as UL, CE, or FCC, including preparing technical documentation.
- Familiarity with signal integrity basics for interfaces like SPI, I2C, USB, and Ethernet.
