Datacenter Site Supervisor
The job description
Tech stack. Site-level task coordination, vendor and contractor management, safety enforcement and site inductions, ticketing and work order systems, basic facilities and IT literacy, shift scheduling, incident first response, documentation and reporting
About the role
You will supervise day-to-day activity at a datacenter site for a colocation provider where construction contractors, customer visitors, maintenance vendors, and technicians all share the same facility. You are the authority on the ground: approving work permits, inducting visitors and contractors, enforcing safety and security rules, coordinating competing activities, and responding first when anything goes wrong. Your leadership presence and firm, fair enforcement keep a complex, busy site safe, secure, and orderly every single shift. Note: this title is scoped at Mid-level per house leveling rules (no seniority prefix), supervising site activity and contractors within defined procedures rather than managing engineering teams. You will be the steady hand that keeps a busy, complex site running safely every single day.
What you will achieve
- Keep the site incident-free through rigorous work permitting, contractor induction, and visible enforcement of safety and security rules with every person on site.
- Coordinate concurrent activities (maintenance windows, construction work, customer visits, deliveries) with clear scheduling and communication so nothing conflicts or creates risk.
- Achieve permit approval turnaround within agreed SLAs by reviewing method statements promptly and thoroughly rather than rubber-stamping them.
- Respond to site incidents as the first authority on scene, securing the area, initiating response procedures, and escalating with accurate facts within target times.
- Maintain site documentation (access logs, permit records, incident reports, shift logs) complete and accurate, supporting audits, customer inquiries, and investigations.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years of datacenter, facilities, construction supervision, or similar site responsibility experience.
- Leadership presence: firm, fair, and consistent enforcement of rules with contractors and visitors of all seniority levels.
- Understanding of datacenter safety and security protocols: work permits, hot work, confined space awareness, and access control.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills for managing competing demands on a busy site.
- Ability to write clear incident reports and to document decisions defensibly.
- High school diploma or equivalent; safety certifications valued.
Nice-to-haves
- OSHA 30, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent safety qualification.
- Experience with construction-phase datacenter supervision and commissioning awareness.
- Familiarity with change control and MOP processes in live environments.
- First aid and incident management training.
