Datacenter Logistics Technician
The job description
Tech stack. Receiving and inspection procedures, inventory management systems, RMA processing, staging and kitting, forklift and pallet jack operation, shipping documentation, ESD-safe handling, cycle counting, barcode/RFID workflows
About the role
You will run the logistics heartbeat of a datacenter campus receiving thousands of servers, network devices, and parts every month. Your dock is where deployment projects begin and where failed hardware ends its journey: inspecting inbound shipments, staging complete kits for build teams, processing returns and RMAs with proper documentation, and keeping every serial number tracked. Your accuracy determines whether deployment projects start on time, whether broken parts actually get replaced under warranty, and whether finance trusts the asset records. You will coordinate with deployment and repair teams to anticipate parts demand, staging kits ahead of schedule so projects never wait on logistics. Your dock operations will run with the precision of a well-managed warehouse, because at this scale that is exactly what they are. You will also manage the secure disposal chain for equipment leaving the facility, protecting company assets and data.
What you will achieve
- Process inbound shipments within 24 hours of arrival with receiving accuracy above 99.5 percent, catching damage and shortages before they become project delays.
- Stage deployment kits complete and correct against the bill of materials, so build teams never wait on missing parts or wrong revisions.
- Process RMAs with proper documentation, packaging, and tracking, achieving vendor credit or advance replacement on every valid claim within vendor SLA.
- Maintain inventory accuracy above 99 percent through disciplined cycle counting, immediate transaction recording, and investigation of every variance.
- Keep dock, staging, and storage areas organized, safe, and audit-ready at all times, with clear labeling and logical layout.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years in logistics, warehousing, or materials handling, ideally with IT or electronic hardware.
- Strong attention to detail in receiving, counting, serial tracking, and documentation.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and barcode or RFID workflows used consistently.
- Safe forklift and pallet jack operation with current certification or ability to obtain it.
- Ability to identify server and network components and to recognize shipping damage versus manufacturing defects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice-to-haves
- Forklift operator certification current and verifiable.
- Experience with datacenter-specific logistics: white-glove delivery, secure chain of custody, and after-hours receiving.
- Familiarity with export control basics (EAR) for hardware shipments.
- Knowledge of proper ESD packaging for sensitive electronic components.
