The job description
Tech stack. sensor fusion algorithms, track correlation, tactical data links, open architecture standards, common operational picture design, DDS and TCP/IP networking, SysML, Python
About the role
You will join a defense technology company building the command and control backbone that turns raw sensor data into decisions at operational speed. The C4ISR team connects disparate sensors, networks, and headquarters into one coherent common operational picture, spanning ISR collection, fusion, and C2 dissemination. Your architectures determine how fast detections become actionable tracks, how reliably they reach the right operator, and how new sensors join the enterprise without breaking what already works.
What you will achieve
- Architect a sensor fusion pipeline that correlates tracks from three or more sensor types, cutting duplicate tracks by 70 percent in the common operational picture.
- Define interoperability interfaces using open architecture standards so third-party sensors plug into the network without custom adapters.
- Deliver track accuracy and latency budgets that hold end-to-end reporting delay under the operational threshold during peak load.
- Build a data link integration plan covering message sets, update rates, and network loading for tactical data link participants.
- Lead an integration event that takes the system from lab federation to a multi-node live demonstration with zero interface failures.
- Stand up a cross-organization interface agreement that lets a partner sensor feed contribute tracks to the enterprise picture within one integration cycle.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- You bring 2 to 5 years of experience in C2, ISR, or distributed sensor system engineering.
- You understand sensor fusion fundamentals: track correlation, association, and fusion architectures from centralized to distributed.
- You are familiar with tactical data links, their message structures, and network participation rules.
- You can design network architectures with DDS or TCP/IP that meet latency, throughput, and resilience requirements.
- You work in SysML or equivalent modeling to capture interfaces, data flows, and operational threads.
- You coordinate across sensor, network, and software teams to keep integration on schedule.
- You have defined data models or message standards for track or sensor data exchange between systems.
Nice-to-haves
- You have built or tuned multi-sensor tracking or fusion algorithms in Python or C++.
- You bring experience with cross-domain solutions or multi-level security architectures.
- You have supported live exercises or demonstrations with real sensor feeds.
- You hold an active security clearance or can obtain one.
- You bring experience with cloud or edge deployment patterns for C2 software services.
