ADAS Engineer
The job description
Tech stack. MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, radar/camera sensor tools, CANoe/CANalyzer, HIL test benches, Euro NCAP test protocols, ISO 26262 work products
About the role
You will join the driver assistance team of an automaker shipping features like adaptive cruise, lane keeping, automated parking, and emergency braking to millions of vehicles. The team owns ADAS functions from requirements through calibration and validation. This role matters because these features are graded publicly by NCAP stars and privately by customers who trust them with their families, and your calibration and validation work is what makes them perform in the real world, not just the demo. You will tune feature behavior across the full operating design domain, from highway pilot to urban stop-and-go, validating each with a mix of simulation, proving-ground, and public-road miles. Your calibration work will balance driver comfort against system assertiveness, using fleet feedback to refine thresholds release after release. You will also own the HMI logic that keeps drivers correctly engaged, because a Level 2 system is only as safe as the human supervising it.
What you will achieve
- Deliver ADAS features (ACC, LKA, AEB, or parking) achieving 5-star Euro NCAP and top IIHS ratings on first assessment
- Cut false-positive interventions by 40 percent through sensor calibration, fusion tuning, and scenario-based validation
- Own requirements, test cases, and traceability for your functions per ASPICE and ISO 26262 through ASIL B or D
- Drive closed-course and public-road validation campaigns covering 100k+ km with structured issue triage and fix verification
- Ship over-the-air updates that measurably improve feature performance, tracked through fleet telemetry KPIs
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years of experience developing ADAS or active safety features at an OEM or Tier 1
- Strong understanding of ADAS sensors: radar, camera, ultrasonic, and their fusion architectures
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm development and CANoe/CANalyzer for vehicle network analysis
- Working knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety and ASPICE development processes
- Experience with HIL/SIL testing and closed-course test execution for ADAS validation
- Familiarity with Euro NCAP and IIHS test protocols and rating criteria
- Structured debugging skills: reproducing field issues from logs and driving them to root cause
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with SOTIF (ISO 21448) analyses for perception system limitations
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic software architecture
- Familiarity with machine learning-based perception and its validation challenges
- C/C++ embedded software skills for algorithm implementation
