Electrical Engineer

Priority #1: Senior to Staff Electrical Engineer Lead (min 10 YoE, ideally more). Needs to be heavy IC focus (though ideally not pure IC) and with experience that spikes well to the companies and JD below.

Priority #2: Mid-level EE (5+ YoE). More broad experience range possible here - we are looking for demonstration of talent and aptitude to be a hard-charging passionate builder of technology.

Relevant Companies:

• Aerial Robotics (Zipline, Skydio, any other drone company that has actually scaled)
• EV Automotive (Tesla, Rivian) or EV Mobility (LEVs, purpose-built autonomy vehicles)
• Ground Robotics (Bias towards having achieved scale, less humanoid)
• Possibly New Grid companies (inverters, battery systems)

Hierarchy of signal on which we will consider candidates:

• Evaluation of actual work samples (professional & ambitious personal projects.)
• References by known technical A-players.
• Long tenure at high-performing companies.
• Ability to interview well on spontaneous technical topics.
• Education pedigree.

Skills:

• Majority of work experience (10 years+) is in the detailed design of PCBAs & electronics assemblies of modern high power electrical equipment - embedded computers, RF communication systems, power electronics for EV propulsion, batteries, and grid-connected charging. Bias towards do-ers vs. managers.
• Most valuable technical ownership experience is in the combination of high power (1000w+), high RF (wifi LTE mesh starlink) / high compute (embedded CPUs + Nvidia GPUs) into single electrical designs and systems.
• Experience with leading teams and technical architecture for ambitious electrical systems with strenuous environmental, performance, and mass constraints.
• Passion combined with aptitude for pushing the limits of electrical system design and execution to build leading-edge aerial robotics combining the latest in perception, compute, communications, propulsion, and battery technologies.
• Aptitude for shipping fast and in tight collaboration with broader engineering teams - iteration in weeks (not months) on highly integrated electrical, mechanical, and software solutions.
• Excited about being senior/seniormost IC in a culture that will eschew management layers for as long as possible to minimize communication overhead and maximize the entire team’s exposure to the real problems of our product and customer.
• Altium skill preferred, KiCad also optional.
