About the Company
The U.S. is investing over $100B annually in software-defined and autonomous technologies but lacks the infrastructure to evaluate how they perform under pressure, which are most effective, and how to employ them. This creates an ecosystem-wide bottleneck: 18-24 month test cycles stall acquisition and adoption when the tempo of warfare and technology development are both measured in days. Today's workaround isn't structurally sustainable:
American companies send their engineers to the front lines of active wars because that's the only place they can get continuous, realistic feedback.
Valkryn is America's premier test partner for the AI era. Backed by a16z American Dynamism and founded by veterans of Anduril, SpaceX, Palantir, and Applied Intuition, we build and deploy the commercial "Battle Lab" technology stack: fully automated, sensorized and on-demand test environments with realistic threats, orchestrated by an intelligent software layer, and repeatable across a global network of physical sites. The Battle Lab is how the U.S. will test like it needs to fight, at the speed it already builds.
Come test with us.
About the Job
What You’ll Do
As an RF/EW Engineer at Valkryn, you'll own the RF layer of the Battle Lab. A test environment is only as good as the truth data it captures and the threats it presents, and you'll own both sides of that equation: building out the spectrum sensing and telemetry instrumentation that collects ground truth from every test, while integrating the threat emitters, jammers, and radar surrogates that make the test worth measuring.
This is not a hardware design role. You'll take the best RF systems that exist and make them work together as one coherent, automated test environment. You'll learn what "realistic" means the same way our customers do: on the range, in the field, with the spectrum analyzer in your hand.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience integrating, fielding, or operating RF systems, whether instrumentation, EW, radar, or communications
- Systems engineering fluency: you've owned requirements, interface definitions, integration, and/or verification for systems that shipped or deployed
- RF measurement tools expertise: spectrum analyzers, signal generators, SDRs, receiver characterization, and knowing when your data is lying to you
- Working knowledge of EW fundamentals: jamming and deception techniques, emitter behavior, and receiver performance under contested conditions
- Willingness to travel to test ranges and customer sites
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Preferred
- Defense, aerospace, or test and evaluation domain experience
- Prior experience with test events and tooling for DoW RF/EW programs
- Open-air test range experience: range instrumentation, spectrum authorization and deconfliction, time-space-position information (TSPI), and live test execution
- SDR and automation skills: GNU Radio, Python, or similar tools for building and scripting RF data pipelines and workflows
- Fluency with AI coding agents as a multiplier on your output
- Existing Secret or Top Secret level U.S. security clearance
