About Framework
Framework is building fully automated apparel manufacturing facilities in the United States. We are taking one of the world’s most manual and fragmented production processes and rebuilding it as a software-defined robotic factory.
By combining robotics, industrial automation, and software, we aim to make U.S. apparel production cost-competitive with offshore manufacturing while dramatically reducing lead times and inventory costs for apparel brands.
What You’ll Do
- Specify, design, program, integrate, and commission control systems for industrial and collaborative robotic workcells built for reliable, 24/7 production.
- Own controls and automation projects throughout the full system life cycle—from requirements and electrical architecture through panel build, deployment, commissioning, and ongoing improvement.
- Develop resilient, maintainable PLC software with clear operating sequences, diagnostics, alarms, and fault-recovery behavior.
- Integrate robots, servo drives, safety systems, sensors, actuators, pneumatic equipment, and other automation hardware.
- Collaborate with software engineers to expose PLC and robot data to higher-level monitoring, orchestration, and production systems.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and commissioning documentation.
- Select and source electrical, controls, and automation components.
- Build, wire, test, troubleshoot, and deploy control cabinets and electrical panels.
- Diagnose electrical and controls issues across prototypes and production equipment, then implement improvements that increase uptime, reliability, and maintainability.
- Contribute to machine-safety architecture, risk reduction, and safe operating behavior.
- Approach problems from first principles to observe how the system actually behaves, challenge assumptions, and rapidly test simpler solutions—removing unnecessary components or process steps, reducing software dependencies and startup time, and using straightforward mechanical or pneumatic logic when it is more reliable than additional PLC code.
What You’ll Bring
- A genuine passion for robotics, automation, and building real-world production systems.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, programming, and commissioning industrial control systems or automated equipment.
- Experience programming PLCs and working with industrial communication protocols such as PROFINET, EtherCAT, or EtherNet/IP.
- Knows these systems, can take apart and build safely, and wants to reduce the level of enterprise tooling
- Experience designing electrical control systems and creating production-ready electrical schematics.
- Practical experience assembling, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting control cabinets and electrical panels.
- Working knowledge of industrial sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and pneumatic systems.
- An understanding of machine-safety principles and safety-rated control systems.
- The ability to troubleshoot across electrical, mechanical, controls, and software boundaries.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or another mechanical or electrical CAD platform.
- Strong analytical thinking, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
Preferred Experience
- Programming and integrating industrial or collaborative robots from ABB, FANUC, KUKA, or similar manufacturers.
- Developing HMI or SCADA systems for machine operation, diagnostics, and process visualization.
- Using EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or a comparable electrical-design platform.
- Designing safety circuits and applying industrial machine-safety standards.
- Designing power-distribution, motor-control, servo-drive, or variable-frequency-drive systems.
- Programming or scripting in Python, C, C++, or a similar language.
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing, textile equipment, or other complex automated production environments.
What We Offer
- A fast-paced, collaborative startup environment where your work has a direct impact on the machines we deploy.
- The opportunity to solve difficult, multidisciplinary problems at the intersection of robotics, electrical engineering, controls, and software.
- Significant opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and technical leadership as the company scales.
- Access to in-house prototyping equipment—including 3D printers, CNC machines, and industrial robots—for approved personal projects.
- Opportunities for professional training and industry certifications.
- The chance to work with a talented, highly motivated, and self-driven engineering team.
- Performance-based compensation increases of up to 50% annually for exceptional performance.
