Autonymy - Software Engineer
Autonymy is building the data infrastructure backbone that America's most critical operations depend on. We design and manufacture intelligent, multi-WAN edge devices that ensure
resilient data orchestration in the world's most demanding environments—from defense
operations to industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, and mining operations. Our technology
replaces legacy radio systems with next-generation solutions built for reliability, ruggedization,
and intelligent network orchestration at the edge. As robotics and autonomous systems reshape
how critical work gets done, we're providing the foundational infrastructure that makes it
possible. We're a team of builders solving hard problems that matter, and we're looking for
talented engineers and operators who want to work on technology that strengthens American
capabilities and industrial leadership.
As a Software Engineer at Autonymy, you will own the complete software development cycle for
our edge devices, translating complex system requirements into robust software that works in
the real world. You will build and maintain systems that operate reliably in rugged, demanding
environments where failure is not an option. You'll dive into a diverse range of challenges,
partnering closely with our hardware engineers to engineer software systems that empower
mission-critical capabilities. We're looking for an engineer who takes ownership, moves fast,
and makes critical design decisions that directly impact the performance and reliability of
systems deployed in defense and critical infrastructure applications.
What You'll Do
Architect & Build: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure software
services to power state-of-the-art data orchestration across the tech stack— from
embedded software on our multi-WAN edge devices to the cloud
Data Systems: Architect and implement robust data pipelines, data models, and efficient
storage solutions to support complex data processing and routing.
Collaborate: Partner closely with hardware engineers, firmware developers, and other
stakeholders to ensure seamless integration between back-end software components
and custom hardware.
Optimize: Maximize system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions
to ensure efficient, ultra-reliable data flow in resource-constrained environments.
End-to-End Ownership: Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from
conceptualization to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
What We’re Looking For
BS in Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering with significant (4+ years) experience
in designing and building complex, production-ready software.
Strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, algorithms, and systems
architecture.
Proficiency in backend and systems languages such as C++ or Rust.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and managing data systems and
building efficient processing pipelines.
An aptitude for quickly learning and contributing effectively within sophisticated,
distributed software systems.
Energy and aim to thrive in a startup environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Some travel internationally and domestically will be required.
Nice to have
Masters or PhD in engineering
Experience with functional programming
Active security clearance
Experience with networking fundamentals and sockets
Numerical analysis or signal processing
