Founding Electrical Engineer
About Silicon Dreams
Silicon Dreams is ushering in a future of true abundance for humanity with matter compilers. Matter compilers are machines that can make anything. Instead of starting with nanotechnology, we are starting off with advanced robotics to automate manual labor tasks across critical industries to increase throughput of matter.
We believe that applying and blitzscaling the “Factory is The Product” mindset across all goods and services is how we create abundance and reach the ideal matter compiler, asymptotically.
Raw material in.
Electricity in.
Human desire in.
Matter out.
We do not care about building a superintelligent god that upends humanity.
We are not a pure research project.
We are focused on solving real problems for humans. We believe the most important problem to solve is accelerating a future of abundance across all goods that elevate human quality of life.
About the Role
We are looking for a Founding Electrical Engineer to help own both design and manufacturing of new electrical architectures spanning all autonomous systems we develop. You will be the extreme owner of the system from conception to high-rate production. You will have creative freedom to explore engineering trades and solve problems from first principles, but you will also write your own firmware, lay out your own boards, build your own bring-up and ICT fixtures, and develop the test procedures and process flow at the end of the product lifecycle. This is a generalist role by design. In a given week you might route a mix-signal PCB, run an E&M simulation on a BLDC motor, bring up a high-rate data acquisition path, and write the work instructions to hand it off. You need to be a team player, owning all aspects of the end outcomes. You will personally build your own designs until the design and assembly reaches a semi-stable state, before passing it off to technicians.
We believe in having small, talent-dense teams and removing friction across everything. We will always have more problems to solve than people to solve them, and we will keep it this way.
This is how Silicon Dreams builds the best future for humanity in the most efficient manner with a high bar for quality – and this starts with having high quality people who can execute and have a deep desire to be the best in their field.
If you were the one doing all the work in your class projects or college engineering team, you will enjoy working with us.
We index on high gradient and learning rates as opposed to extensive prior experience. We also prioritize candidates with a demonstrated winning spirit whether it is in engineering competitions, physical athletics, or e-sports.
What You'll Do
- Design mixed-signal PCBs and flex PCBs across the product — sensor front ends, data acquisition, power delivery, and connector/interface selection — owning schematic capture through layout
- Architect and build embedded systems with high-channel-count sensor arrays sampled at hundreds of Hz, radio links, and host integration
- Design and validate BLDC motors, drive electronics, sensing, and control interfaces — working closely with the mechanical teams
- Run first-principles analysis to size and de-risk your designs: signal chain budgets, power budgets, thermal, and E&M / magnetics simulation where it matters
- Own board bring-up and bench debug across power, signal, RF, and embedded domains
- Design for EMI/EMC robustness in electrically hostile environments and validate it empirically
- Own DFM/DFT for your electronics, work with suppliers to increase rate of production, and develop end-of-line test fixtures and procedures
- Write firmware and scripts for bring-up, test automation, and data analysis
- Own your drawings, BOMs, SOPs, and manufacturing test procedures, and integrate your electronics into larger systems
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years of experience (engineering club, commercial and research internships included) designing and bringing up real electronic hardware, from schematic through bring-up and debug
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, or equivalent)
- Solid foundation in analog and digital design — signal chains, ADCs, sensors, power, signal integrity
- Hands-on bench skill: you can solder, probe, wire, and debug with an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and power supply. You understand the effect of using certain connectors on your signal integrity and cables, versus others and know basic torque specs
- Embedded systems experience: microcontrollers and their peripherals, and enough firmware to bring up and characterize your own boards
- Scripting for test automation and data analysis (Python, Rust, or similar)
- A first-principles instinct for analysis — you reach for the back-of-envelope calc before the part, and you can run a quick breakout simulation to check yourself
- Excellence in fundamental circuit theory and electromagnetics
If you don’t meet every requirement listed above, but believe you are exceptional, believe in our mission, and are willing to work incredibly hard, please reach out to us regardless. We always want to work with the best.
Preferred Skills

- E&M / magnetics simulation (FEMM, Ansys Maxwell, or equivalent) and motor design exposure
- RF and wireless link experience (BLE, ESB, or similar low-latency protocols)
