Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior Associate or Principal to join our investment team. You'll own deal work end to end — sourcing, diligence, structuring, and portfolio support — with increasing autonomy over thesis development and deal leadership as you grow into the role. This is a hands-on seat for someone who wants to build conviction in emerging categories and back founders early.
What You'll Do
Sourcing and thesis development
- Build and maintain a proprietary pipeline through founder relationships, operator networks, other investors, accelerators, and conference presence
- Develop written market maps and investment theses in target categories, identifying where value is likely to accrue and which company profiles fit the fund's strategy
- Track emerging technologies, business models, and regulatory shifts, and translate them into a point of view on where to deploy capital over the next 12–24 months
- Run first meetings with founders, assess fit against the fund's criteria, and make a clear call on whether to advance or pass
Diligence and investment evaluation
- Lead diligence workstreams: market sizing, competitive positioning, unit economics, cohort and retention analysis, customer and expert reference calls, technical evaluation, and team assessment
- Build and stress-test financial models, including operating projections, cap table and dilution analysis, and returns scenarios under multiple exit assumptions
- Develop valuation views using comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and a first-principles read on the business
- Author investment memos that lay out the thesis, key risks, diligence findings, and a clear recommendation — and defend that recommendation in front of the investment committee
- (Principal) Lead deals independently, negotiate term sheets, own the relationship with the founder through close, and coordinate legal and closing processes
Portfolio support
- Serve as a day-to-day resource for portfolio companies on go-to-market, hiring, fundraising strategy, and business development
- Make introductions to customers, partners, and downstream investors
- Track portfolio performance, prepare valuation marks and reporting for LPs, and flag both risks and follow-on opportunities
- (Principal) Take board observer or board seats where appropriate and lead follow-on decisions
Firm building
- Contribute to LP reporting, annual meeting materials, and fundraising narratives
- Mentor analysts and associates, and review their work product
- Improve internal processes — pipeline tracking, diligence templates, data infrastructure, and market intelligence
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in finance, strategy, or technology. Relevant paths include venture capital or private equity investing, investment banking, management consulting, corporate development, or a high-impact operating role at a technology company (product management, business operations, strategic finance, growth, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple live processes against competing deadlines with limited oversight
- Strategic thinking capability sufficient to identify and assess the two or three considerations that actually determine an investment outcome, and to reason about them from first principles rather than by analogy or consensus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to write a memo that holds up under scrutiny, present crisply to an investment committee, and build credibility with founders, co-investors, and internal stakeholders
- Strong analytical foundation with command of finance and valuation fundamentals: financial statement analysis, modeling, unit economics, cap table mechanics, and returns analysis
- Genuine interest in new technologies and a demonstrated motivation to engage with the startup ecosystem — through prior investing, operating, angel activity, writing, or community involvement
- Sound judgment and comfort making decisions under uncertainty with incomplete information
- Strong relationship-building instincts and a collaborative orientation; the willingness to champion a view and the intellectual honesty to change it
- High personal integrity and discretion when handling confidential information
- Bachelor's degree required
