The job description

Tech stack. PRA software (SAPHIRE, CAFTA), deterministic safety analysis, 10 CFR 50.46 and Appendix K, event tree and fault tree methods, thermal-hydraulic codes, Python for data analysis, human reliability analysis

About the role

You will prove the plant is safe for a nuclear utility or design organization, performing the deterministic and probabilistic analyses that underpin the licensing basis. The team evaluates design-basis accidents, quantifies risk with probabilistic models, and ensures safety systems perform when demanded. You will build fault trees, analyze transients, and document results that regulators scrutinize line by line. This role matters because your analyses are the technical foundation of the license itself, and the conservative rigor you apply protects the public every single day. You will also support the plant's response to NRC generic communications, evaluating whether industry operating experience applies to your facility. Your risk insights will guide the prioritization of engineering resources toward the modifications that reduce risk most. You will maintain the safety analysis code inputs under strict configuration control, because an analysis is only as trustworthy as its inputs. Your presentations to senior leadership will translate complex accident phenomenology into clear decisions about plant investments.
