The job description

Tech stack. Fuel fabrication processes, enrichment cascade modeling, spent fuel storage analysis, MCNP for criticality, transportation cask licensing, burnup credit methods, Python for inventory modeling

About the role

You will engineer the full journey of nuclear fuel for a fuel cycle company, from enrichment through fabrication, reactor use, storage, and disposition. The team ensures fuel moves safely and economically through every stage while meeting safeguards and regulatory requirements. You will analyze storage systems, support transportation licensing, and optimize the back end of the fuel cycle. This role matters because the fuel cycle is where nuclear energy meets long-term stewardship, and your engineering keeps every stage safe, secure, and publicly defensible. You will also evaluate emerging fuel cycle technologies such as advanced reprocessing and accident-tolerant fuels for their operational implications. Your lifecycle cost analyses will inform strategic decisions about storage investments that must remain valid for decades. You will interface with safeguards inspectors demonstrating that material control and accounting meets international obligations. Your knowledge of the full fuel cycle will make you the connective tissue between reactor operations, waste management, and long-term planning teams.
