About the role

A wafer fab needs an equipment engineer to keep critical process tools running at world-class availability, because every hour a tool sits down is lost capacity that can never be recovered. You will own preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshoot down tools under time pressure with production waiting, and drive improvements that prevent repeat failures rather than just fixing them faster. Tool uptime is your product, and the process engineers who depend on your tools will judge you on availability numbers, not effort.

What you will achieve

Sustain tool availability above 95 percent on your assigned toolset through disciplined PM execution, with every PM completed on schedule and no deferred maintenance accumulating.
Reduce mean time to repair by 30 percent with standardized recovery procedures, staged spare parts, and troubleshooting guides that let any qualified engineer recover common faults.
Drive chronic-down-tool elimination so repeat failures drop by half year over year, attacking root causes with design changes, upgraded parts, or revised PM content.
Own parts inventory for critical spares, keeping stockout-driven downtime below 2 percent of total down time through min-max management and lead-time tracking.
Cut PM-induced particle or defect excursions by tightening post-PM qualification checks, so maintenance never trades uptime for yield, and every PM exit criterion is signed off before the tool returns to production.

What you will bring

Must-haves

BS in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience with semiconductor process equipment in a production fab.
2 to 5 years maintaining fab equipment such as etch, deposition, lithography, or metrology tools.
Strong troubleshooting skills on vacuum systems, RF delivery, and robotic handlers, with the ability to diagnose from symptoms to failed component.
Experience reading schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals to diagnose faults without guesswork.
Comfort working in a cleanroom environment on shift or on-call schedules, including nights and weekends when production demands it.
Methodical documentation habits for maintenance logs and failure reports that build a usable history for every tool.

Nice-to-haves

Vendor certification on specific tool platforms such as Applied Materials, Lam, ASML, or TEL.
PLC or equipment-control software familiarity for deeper diagnostics and interlock troubleshooting.
Predictive maintenance or sensor-data analysis experience to catch failures before they cause downtime.
