The job description
Tech stack. ETAP, SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD Electrical, PVsyst, HOMER Pro, Python, SCADA historians, utility tariff databases
About the role
You will join an energy solutions company that develops power projects for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers, from first site visit through commissioning. The engineering team owns feasibility analysis, system design, and technical due diligence, and your work decides which projects move forward and which do not. This role matters because the load studies you run, the equipment you specify, and the financial models you build are the foundation every downstream decision rests on, so rigor here multiplies across the whole portfolio.
What you will achieve
- Deliver 10 to 15 bankable feasibility studies per year, each with CAPEX estimates that land within 15 percent of final installed cost and energy models validated against metered data
- Cut design cycle time by 20 percent by building reusable calculation templates, standard equipment libraries, and automated reporting scripts the whole team adopts
- Own electrical one-line diagrams, load calculations, arc-flash study inputs, and protection coordination for projects up to 20 MW across multiple sites
- Drive project economics past the company hurdle rate by modeling NPV, IRR, and payback across utility tariffs, incentive programs, and financing structures
- Ship commissioning-ready documentation packages that let field teams energize systems on schedule with zero design-caused rework or change orders
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 2 to 5 years of experience in energy, power systems, or electrical engineering roles with built projects you can point to
- Solid grasp of power systems fundamentals including load flow, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop, and protection coordination
- Proficiency with at least one analysis platform such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower, plus AutoCAD for drawing production
- Ability to read, redline, and produce electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and panel schedules without supervision
- Working knowledge of the NEC as applied to power installations, grounding, and overcurrent protection
- Strong spreadsheet and financial modeling skills for energy production estimates and project economics
- Clear technical writing for reports that executives, customers, and non-engineers can act on
Nice-to-haves
- EIT certification or active progress toward a PE license
- Hands-on experience with solar PV, battery storage, or backup generation projects
- Familiarity with utility interconnection applications and net metering rules
- Exposure to measurement and verification protocols such as IPMVP
