About the role

You will work at the boundary between hardware and firmware at a company building edge computing devices for retail and logistics environments. Your specialty is making boards live: first power-on, bootloader bring-up, peripheral validation, and the relentless debug that turns a fresh PCB into a working product. Firmware engineers will rely on you to hand them hardware that is characterized, documented, and ready to code against, with every erratum found and every workaround validated before they build on top. You will also build the power-sequencing validation rig that proves every rail comes up in order on every board revision, catching the bring-up failures that waste weeks of debug.

What you will achieve

Bring up new board designs from first power-on through bootloader and OS boot, delivering a validated hardware platform to firmware teams on the committed date with a complete bring-up report.
Validate every peripheral and interface on the board (Ethernet, USB, PCIe, I2C, SPI, UART) against datasheet timing and electrical specifications, documenting measured margins for each.
Drive power sequencing and reset debug to completion, capturing and fixing sequencing violations with an oscilloscope before they become field reliability problems or intermittent boot failures.
Build hardware documentation and board-support notes (device tree guidance, errata, workaround procedures) that let firmware engineers work productively without guessing at hardware behavior.
Reduce bring-up time on subsequent board spins by creating reusable checkout procedures, test firmware images, and fixture designs that the whole team adopts.

What you will bring

Must-haves

2 to 5 years of board bring-up and hardware debug experience on processor-based boards.
Ability to read schematics and datasheets deeply, including timing diagrams, electrical characteristics tables, and errata documents.
Strong bench skills: oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers, and power measurement.
Enough embedded C literacy to write and debug bring-up test code and to read firmware when hunting hardware clues.
Understanding of power sequencing, clock trees, reset architectures, and boot flows.
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with ARM SoC platforms and board support package development.
Familiarity with high-speed interface validation including DDR tuning and PCIe link training.
Background in manufacturing test development for complex multi-interface boards.
Knowledge of thermal validation and heatsink selection for compute-heavy boards.
