The job description
Tech stack. MIL-STD-810, test planning, telemetry systems, data acquisition, range operations, statistical analysis, Python, MATLAB, requirements verification
About the role
You will join a defense technology company where testing is how engineering earns its credibility and where a disciplined test program is a competitive advantage. The test and evaluation team plans, executes, and analyzes the trials that prove a system works under real conditions, from environmental qualification through developmental and operational testing. Your test plans decide what gets proven, your data decides what gets fixed, and your reports decide what gets fielded, so rigor and honesty in your work directly shape program outcomes.
What you will achieve
- Write test plans covering developmental and operational objectives, with traceability from every test event back to a system requirement.
- Execute environmental qualification per MIL-STD-810, completing shock, vibration, temperature, and humidity profiles with zero test-article losses to procedure errors.
- Stand up telemetry and data acquisition for a flight or live-fire event, capturing 100 percent of critical parameters with validated time correlation.
- Analyze test data with rigorous statistics, separating real performance shortfalls from measurement noise in your findings.
- Deliver test reports within two weeks of the last event, with clear pass or fail verdicts and prioritized corrective actions.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- You bring 2 to 5 years of experience planning or executing tests on defense or aerospace systems.
- You can write a complete test plan: objectives, success criteria, instrumentation, safety, and data analysis methods.
- You understand environmental testing per MIL-STD-810 and how to tailor profiles to a system's real operating environment.
- You are skilled with data acquisition, telemetry, and post-test data reduction in Python or MATLAB.
- You apply design of experiments and statistical methods so test results actually support conclusions.
- You run safe, disciplined test operations and document everything an auditor or review board would ask for.
- You have authored test readiness review packages and briefed go or no-go recommendations to program leadership.
Nice-to-haves
- You have worked range operations, including scheduling, safety coordination, and frequency management.
- You bring experience with automated test execution or hardware-in-the-loop rigs.
- You have supported operational testing with end users or military operators.
- You are eligible for a U.S. security clearance.
- You bring experience with modeling and simulation accreditation for test planning or test reduction.
