The job description
Tech stack. Analog strategy and architecture, signal chain design, technology assessment, design methodology leadership, executive technical communication, IP portfolio strategy
About the role
You will serve as the chief analog architect at a semiconductor company, the single technical authority for analog strategy across the organization. The chief analog architect defines the company's analog vision: which signal chains to build, which process technologies to bet on, which IP to develop versus buy, and how analog integrates with the company's digital and system strengths. This is the most senior individual-contributor analog role, carrying responsibility for the analog content of products that define the company's market position.
What you will achieve
- Set the multi-year analog technology vision and roadmap, aligning market needs, application trends, process technology evolution, and competitive dynamics into a strategy the company can execute.
- Define analog architecture standards including signal chain partitioning principles, interface standards, modeling requirements, and reuse strategies used across all programs.
- Make the defining analog technology bets such as process node selection for analog content, advanced packaging adoption, or photonic integration, with clear-eyed analysis of risk and reward.
- Establish analog design excellence at scale through methodology governance, review processes, technical career paths, and the culture that keeps a large analog organization excellent.
- Represent the company's analog capabilities to customers, partners, and the industry, building the technical credibility that wins designs and strategic partnerships.
- Advise executive leadership on analog investments, organization capacity, and technology partnerships with direct, honest assessments grounded in deep experience.
What you will bring
Must-haves
- 15 or more years of experience in analog IC design and architecture with multiple generations of successful, high-volume products.
- Demonstrated success setting analog technical strategy that organizations executed to market leadership.
- Mastery spanning circuit design, layout, device physics, packaging, system-level signal chains, and silicon validation.
- Exceptional judgment on technology bets, demonstrated through major decisions that proved correct over multi-year horizons.
- Outstanding communication and influence spanning designers, executives, customers, partners, and industry forums.
- A record of industry-defining analog innovation visible in landmark products, widely adopted techniques, patents, or standards contributions.
- The courage to make hard calls on analog investments with incomplete information and the accountability to own their outcomes.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience leading analog organizations through major technology transitions.
- Established presence in the circuits research community through ISSCC, JSSC, or similar venues.
- Background spanning multiple companies or market segments with comparative perspective on analog excellence.
- Familiarity with emerging domains such as chiplets, photonics, or quantum interfaces as they affect analog strategy.
